Jay A. Irwin, Ph.D. is a Medical Sociologist in the department of Sociology & Anthropology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. Irwin specializes in LGBT health, transgender identity, sexuality, mental health, and homelessness. Dr. Irwin is also Associate Director for the Midlands Sexual Health Research Collaborative (MSHRC) housed at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. MSHRC is an interdisciplinary, collaborative team dedicated to research and advocacy of sexuality and sexual health. He is also a member of the Professional Transgender Resource Network of Nebraska (PTRN), a group of medical providers, lawyers, researchers, and educators dedicated to connecting transgender Nebraskans to supportive and knowledgeable services.‚Äč
