SSSS MEMBERSHIP RATES AND BENEFITS

 

Membership is on a calendar year (January to December).

The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) is a professional membership organization, home to a diversity of professionals including, but not limited to: sexologists, researchers, educators, physicians, psychologists, nurses, health care professionals, sociologists, therapists, anthropologists, biologists, historians, clergy, and students in related fields of study.

The Society is represented by its members, conference participants, and journal authors. Memberships are available for individuals who hold a degree (i.e., Doctoral, Masters, Bachelors) in a relevant academic discipline and/or who are professionals in the sexuality field. 

SSSS is the oldest professional society dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about sexuality.

In addition to voting rights and opportunities for professional networking, members receive:

JOURNAL OF SEX RESEARCH (JSR): Eight issues per calendar year, plus an additional issue, Annual Review of Sex Research, which is a special edition of the JSR. As a member, you'll automatically be added to the JSR Mailing List, and you also have access to the journals online. Log-in to your account, to view the journals online. 

SEXUAL SCIENCE NEWSLETTER: An online newsletter that includes: contributions from Society Leaders, Committees, and Members of SSSS. Log-in to view current and past Newsletters.

SSSSTALK LISTSERV: An interactive email discussion listserv, designed to disseminate professional sexual health-related information between SSSS Members. As a member, you'll automatically be added to the listserv.

CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) OPPORTUNITIES: SSSS events are approved to offer continuing education credits. (Click on the CE link for approved agencies.) CE credits can also be applied to your state license, employer, and other agencies. Please check with your state, employer, and/or other agencies for credit acceptance.

AMBASSADOR PROGRAM: A program that was developed to provide opportunities for SSSS Student and Developing Professional Members to assist The Society. In exchange for your assistance, SSSS offers: partial meeting registration reimbursement, developing relationships with established and senior members, engaging in networking opportunities, etc. SSSS has a strong commitment to “the next generation” through the support of a vigorous student/developing professional membership program.

AWARDS: The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality sponsors many awards throughout the year, some are presented annually, and some periodically. Awards are presented at the discretion of The Society's Board of Directors. Each award has it's own specific procedures, applications and/or guidelines. Recipients of each award are also listed, under the specific award.

GRANTS: Each year The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality provides various opportunities for grants and scholarships, which are funded by The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. Each grant has it's own specific procedures, applications and/or guidelines. Recipients of each grant are also listed, under the specific grant.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM: The Mentorship Program is offered to all SSSS Members, including students, early- and mid-career professionals, and senior leaders in the field. The program is looking for both mentors and mentees who are interested in building their professional network and creating a productive working relationship, with another sex science professional. 

DISCOUNTS: There are member discounts available for SSSS Events (Annual Meeting, Symposiums, Research Institute, etc.) and additional journals published by Routledge.
