Dr. Heather Tillewein is an Assistant Professor in Public Health at Austin Peay State University. She also serves on the Executive Committee as Communication's Chair for the LGBTQ Health Caucus for the American Public Health Association. She recently was appointed, by the President and Executive Director of APHA, to serve on the Committee on Women’s Rights for APHA. She also serves as Master Editor for the HPHR Journal (formerly known as the Harvard Public Health Review). Dr. Tillewein serves on the Continuing Education Committee and is the SIG Leader for Queer Sexualities/ Trans* Experience/ Identity for the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. Recently, Dr. Tillewein was appointed to serve as Co-Chair for the SSSS Scientific Program. She collaborates on several research projects with the Kinsey Institute, SIU School of Medicine, the California Institute of Integral Studies, and others. Dr. Tillewein's research focuses on sexuality, gender identity, sexual health, LGBTQIA+ health, and reproductive health.

Leo Wilton, Ph.D., MPH, is a Professor in the Department of Human Development at the State University of New York at Binghamton. His research interests include health disparities and inequities (HIV prevention and care); Black psychological development and mental health; critical community-based participatory research; and mixed- and multi-methods research. His scholarly research on the HIV epidemic focuses on the intersectionality of race, gender, and sexuality as situated in macro- and micro-level inequalities in African and African Diaspora communities. His scholarly research program explores how intersectional inequalities provide a praxis framework for developing culturally-congruent HIV prevention and care interventions for communities of color. He has served as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Investigator on several National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded research studies.

All conference registrants will have access to the mobile/web app, which will include all information for the conference and a PDF version of the Official Program. If you would like a printed copy of the Official Program, there will be an additional fee of $10.00.

CANCELLATION POLICY (In-Person Registration):


All 2024 SSSS Annual Conference cancellation requests must be sent to SSSS by email at thesociety@sexscience.org. If the email is received on or before August 5, 2024 -EXTENDED to AUGUST 19th, your full in-person registration will be refunded. If the email is received between August 5th, 2024 - EXTENDED AUGUST 19th and November 1, 2024, your in-person registration will be refunded minus a $100.00 (USD) administrative fee. There will be no refunds as of November 2, 2024. All refunds will be sent electronically or by check. Email should include: name, mailing address, phone number, reason for cancellation, the name/email address of the credit card that was used when purchasing your registration, and a statement from you with a request to remove your presentation from the Annual Conference Program. Please include presentation title and co-authors (if applicable) in the email. If SSSS must cancel or relocate the 2024 Annual Conference due to unforeseen circumstances, an email will be sent to all registrants with details and refund options.

SSSS Family Support Financial Assistance Program


THE APPLICATION WINDOW IS CLOSED


The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) is a “professional family” to many in the sexual science community. The Family Support Program provides an opportunity for SSSS to support "your family" so you can attend the conference in person.


The support is not intended for routine childcare, routine long-term care, or routine care due to disability, but is focused on both professionals and students who will incur additional expenses while attending the conference for childcare, eldercare, and/or care due to disability (for yourself and/or for a family member).


If you are eligible and would like to be considered to receive financial assistance to offset the cost of registration, we invite you to apply to the SSSS Family Support Financial Assistance Program.


The number of people assistance will be provided for is limited.


There is a limit of one SSSS scholarship/award/grant per individual, per year.
